B & G Oysters is a small restaurant on the corner on Tremont and Waltham in the South End. This restaurant’s Chef/owner is Barbara Lynch who was recently featured in Boston Magazine. Barbara Lynch is also the Chef/owner at No. 9 Park, Sportello, Stir and others. This neighborhood restaurant is below street level and while there are some tables around the perimeter, the main focus of the restaurant is the big white marble bar which surrounds the open kitchen. It is really cool! We didn’t have a lot of time, so we sat at the bar and ordered appetizers. Oysters are their specialty. There is a menu of 12 types of Oysters from the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. They also have an extensive beer and wine menu. Gary sampled 6 different types of oysters and I had the appetizer special which was King Crab Salad with lemon aioli, avocado, red onion, celery and radish salad with fried shiso. It was delicious!!! I would definitely go back and try their dinner menu another time. The staff was really friendly and what a great atmosphere! Check out there menu at http://www.bandgoysters.com. Later this week, we will be leaving the South End to explore Oleana in Cambrdge. I can’t wait!
PS- Just got an email from Lauren- she just spent the weekend skiing in Switzerland- oh…cut it out!!!
