No matter how you feel about fall and the inevitable progression into winter, the really good news is that it is soup season again! I love soup and I am so glad that Catherine Steinhoff and Kathy Hines are once again making their delicious soups and delivering them around the North Shore area. Last week was their first week of the season, and they made Watermelon Gazpacho and Corn Chowder. They were both fantastic! The Watermelon Gazpacho is made with watermelon, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, Serrano chili, basil, thyme, red wine vinegar, olive oil, sea salt and pepper. What a great combination of sweet and spicy and so refreshing. The Corn Chowder is also made from all fresh ingredients and it really makes a difference: fresh corn, red peppers, onions, garlic, heavy cream, homemade chicken stock, sea salt and pepper. The corn and bacon come from Tendercrop Farms. I absolutely love the way they make the stock without the usual overload of salt and the fresh vegetable are both beautiful and really delicious. Additional options include cobbles (large french rolls) and Chocolate Chip Cookies. Check out their website at www.seastreetsoups.com and see which day of the week they deliver to your town.
This week, Sea Street Soups is offering Chicken Noodle Soup and Kathy’s Vegetarian Chili. For bread, there is a choice of cobbles or a whole wheat loaf and chocolate chip cookies. Orders have to be in by 10:00 am on Monday mornings so hurry!!!
